The One Piece is Real - Week 5 - August 23, 2025 - MTC
Well this week truly has been a roller coaster. Everything from discussing Batman in class, learning how to say Avatar the Last Airbender quotes in Japanese, to seeing an Apostle!
Nice Highlights:
-MTC choir! (We sang "To Bring the World His Truth" but the arrangement sung by the missionary choir in 2024 General Conference)
-Had a devotional by Elder Neil L. Anderson! (more to come)
-Had one good meal at the cafeteria
-Got to hear an incredible testimony from Brother Sasaki (strongest I've felt the Spirit in Japanese so far) (異言の賜物は本当です) (The gift of tongues is real!)
-Found out workshops counted for either personal or comp study (I've been going crazy trying to schedule everything but it turns out I'm doing too much)
Not as Nice Highlights:
-Found out workshops counted for personal or comp study (I learned this at the LAST workshop)
-cafeteria pizza
The ultimate highlight of this week would have to be meeting an Apostle of Jesus Christ, and I got to sing my testimony to him! Twice! It was incredible. As soon as he walked into the room you could almost taste the love he had for us. When he started speaking it struck me that this man is special. His words are the words of Christ and they will not pass away.
He talked a lot about faith, and how growing our faith in Jesus Christ is the most important thing we can learn in this life. Faith is a choice we make everyday! Growing our faith takes work. It takes desire, prayer, patience, and diligence. And part of trying our faith is that we will be tried! One of my favorite quotes that he shared was "Every person will be backed to the wall of faith, and there will make their stand." Faith isn't a perfect knowledge of something, but is a belief/hope for something unseen, that is true (Alma 32:21). He said that when you're doing important things, things get in the way! How true is that!
My favorite part of this experience is when with about 20 minutes left in the devotional the mic broke. What a great example of what he had said five minutes earlier. They were obviously scrambling to get it working again but he was so kind. He was making jokes and he even had the choir sing again! (Hence the 'I got to sing twice') The whole room felt like it was on fire. He eventually went on to finish his testimony without a microphone. Hearing that man's voice, not through a speaker, and his testimony of Christ was unforgettable. I never quite understood what it meant to be a special witness of Jesus Christ until he bore his testimony. I have a strong testimony of our Savior and that He lives, but this man is special. He knows the Savior lives. Just by hearing this man speak, I know my Savior better. It truly was incredible and I hope I will never forget his words. I too can testify our Savior lives! Through His infinite Atonement I will be able to return to my Heavenly Father.
私は証すると思います。 私はイエス様はキリストだとしっています。 キリストの購いによって私たちは罪と罪悪を許すことができます。 イエス様は本当に私たちをこじんわかってあしています。イエス・ キリストのみなによって証しますアーメン。(I believe I can testify. I know that Jesus is the Christ. Through Christ's atonement, we can be forgiven of sin and guilt. Jesus truly knows us. I testify in Jesus Christ alone, amen.)
See you next week!
