Week 27 - January 27, 2026 - Koiwa

Hello everybody! If this week was a roller coaster, it would definitely break some OSHA codes or something. Highlights: -7/11 opened a bakery (the staff now recognizes me by how many times I've been) -Had an incredible lesson with Hiro -Had another incredible lesson with Hao (he's moving *so sad*) -Had 6 people at church! -Saw so many miracles despite my weaknesses READ THIS PART This week has been rough, for reasons mostly self-generated, but as I have felt the need to humble myself again I have been turned to the words of Alma and President Eyring. I love prophets! Alma counseling his son Helaman: (Alma 36) 3 And I would not that ye think that I know of myself—not of the temporal but of the spiritual, not of the carnal mind but of God. 5 Now, behold, I say unto you, if I had not been born of God I should not have known these things; but God has, by the mouth of his holy angel, made these things known unto me, not of any worthiness of myself; Knowledge comes from God! It is su...

The fact that I'm coming up on a quarter of my mission tomorrow is honestly unbelievable considering how fast it feels. Two years is too short! Highlights: -another friend accepted the invitation to be baptized! -exchanges with the legendary Green 長老 (Elder) -President interviews -had six people at church! Might have to start a Chinese-speaking branch soon... (only a half joke haha) -met lots of awesome people! -Got ikei ramen for the first time This week I've had the chance to learn so many beautiful truths about the gospel, but I would love to share what I've learned about the Godhead! If you are looking for a simple, authoritative, easy to understand explanation please give (then) Elder Oak's, "The Godhead and the Plan of Salvation" talk from 2017 a read.  "So, how does understanding this heavenly revealed doctrine about the Godhead and the plan of salvation help us with our challenges today? Because we have the truth about the Godhead and our relation...

It has been such a fun week! Highlights: -Exchanges with the legendary Payne 長老 (Elder) -Zone Conference! -Put a friend on baptismal date -Had someone say yes on the street! READ THIS PART This week has been an incredible witness to me that not only is this mission being led by revelation, but that by focusing on others, we find joy that lasts through any circumstance! The Savior is the perfect example of focusing on others, and using what our mission uses as "love is the motive."  How quick are we to have self pity when things get difficult? I know for me that it has been a huge "work in progress." But the Savior suffered the most! And why? Because he loves us! Apologies for being brief, but I witness that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you sooo much, and by serving others (or trying to serve others) as he did, you can feel that love for yourself!   This week has been jam packed with learning experiences and lots of fun! READ THIS PART This week has been well spent in Alma and Amulek's mission to Ammonihah, and it has redoubled my awe for the Book of Mormon! It was written for our day! Nothing I can say will experience it for you so please take some time and read it for yourself! Alma 9-14! Apologies for being brief, but I love all of you and hope this year goes amazing! Week 23 - January 1, 2026

This week was yet another roller coaster of ups and downs, but we somehow got permission to go to Asakusa with some members (please look it up) which was so awesome. All things aside, if you haven't read President Faust's, "The Refiner's Fire" talk I highly recommend it. I know the furnace of affliction is a great place to be, but sometimes it feels like I'm the one starting all the fires haha. Trying to learn from my mistakes! Highlights: -Got to help take down the giving machines! -Had a church osouji event (deep cleaning event) -Met some AWESOME referrals (so excited) -Lots of rejection -Went to Asakusa (shoutout to the Nakazawa family) -Met Frank! (member in Sister Wardle's mission) -Finished an incredible year! READ THIS PART As I alluded earlier this week has been spent with a lot of time on my knees. There are so many aspects of trying to be a minister of the restored gospel that frankly, I'm not good at! The Lord has made it very clear to me th...
