I'm officially in Japan! Arriving here has definitely been one of the most exciting and terrifying experiences of my life. The people are amazing, the food is amazing, my comp is amazing, but being in a new country and not having a clue what to do has been scary to say the least. But the Lord provides a way! Highlights:  -Food! (I've tried gyouza, katsu, and onigiri so far) (all incredible) -Companion! His name is Elder Jacaboski and he's so dependable -Members! I've only met with them twice so far, and they already are on my top 10 people ever list. -First Area! I've been called to Chiba, Chiba. It's pretty much as city as it gets!  Not highlights: -Natto (fermented beans) (not good) (yet) -Inability to actually speak Japanese READ THIS PART In reference to the title, mou ichido onegaishimasu (もう一度尾根がします) means "one more time," which is very useful when trying to understand someone who is speaking at the speed of light, but unfortunately no matter how...

"Don't Give Your Friends Alcoholic Bread" - Week 9 - September 20, 2025 - MTC

I never thought I would get to see a play while in the MTC, but by small and simple things are great things brought to pass I guess. This week has been great! There was a lot of departure stuff to take care of which was exciting, including a play that represented arriving at the mission. The amount of corny jokes that happened in thirty minutes was very impressive. Plus we got a surprise guest appearance from Sister Welch! I'm not sure if I said this before, but Sister Welch was one of our MTC teachers who got switched to a different district (Sister Hanson's district actually) about four weeks in. It was pretty cool to see how much we've grown in the MTC. The gift of tongues is real! Highlights: -Traded for a batman tie -Got my flight plans -Sister Welch appearance -Had our last HOA (practice teaching lessons) READ THIS PART Wrapping up our HOA's has been so bitter sweet, and has taught me so much about the power in the gospel. There are only two Japanese speaking volu...

Sieza Time - Week 8 - September 13, 2025 - MTC

Well I don't think anything too crazy has happened this week (other than homemade brownies from my aunt, Thank you, Amanda), but we started full immersion on Wednesday and it's been great! I love Japanese! Highlights: -Homemade brownies! (Thank you again Amanda) -Devotional from Elder Johnson! (70) -Actually learned how to ask good questions (Marks 兄弟 (Brother)  is goated) Not Highlights: -正座 (Seiza)  (Storrer 長老 (Elder)  and I decided to do it for 20 minutes everyday) (it hurts) -Having the same food everyday READ THIS PART (Thanks Wardle 姉妹 (Sister) ) This week I spent a lot of time studying Lehi and Nephi's dream, and what it means to our missionary purpose to invite people to come unto Christ. We are inviting all to come partake of the love of God which is "most desirable above all things" (Nephi 11:22).  This love is the gift of the Savior! Through Jesus Christ not only do we have an  exact  path back to our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ provided a wa...

Week 7 - I'm Pretty Sure Stuff Happened - September 6, 2025 - MTC

Everything feels like it has melted together in the MTC, but honestly I'd say that is not a bad thing. Now everything is spiritually uplifting even in Japanese! Highlights: -Volleyball (I'm not good but neither is Elder Hanson) -Reciting the First Vision to Sister Hanson's district (definitely not embarrassing) -Mini Christmas (cookies from grandma and chips and salsa from my aunt) Not highlights: -Seiza (ouch) -The dish return room (It's actually atrocious) -The MTC ran out of cream cheese (sad) I almost finished the Book of Mormon this week (since restarting at the MTC) and  every  time I'm always in awe of the incredible power of this book. To be completely honest, I don't understand how people can say that this book  isn't   true.  One of my favorite gospel related brain candy I've sucked on this week is the  sequence  of events of the Restoration. What came before the revelation of the Three Kingdoms of Glory? Before temple work for the dead?...
