This week I've discovered the joy of Elder Neal A. Maxwell. He is incredible! For some background, he was an earlier Apostle with a beautiful way with words, and had been diagnosed with cancer. His witness of the Savior is unforgettable! In particular, his talk "Apply the Atoning Blood of Christ" spoke to me this week.
"While so striving daily, we will fall short. Hence the avoidance of discouragement is so vital. So where is the oft and much needed resilience to be found? Once again, in the glorious Atonement! Thereby we can know the lifting tide flowing from forgiveness."
So often this week, I have felt that I have been insufficient or ineffective, which may be true, but I've slowly come to a better understanding that despite me falling so short, the Savior completed a perfect Atonement! Doing bad missionary work is the way for me to learn good missionary work. Because "The Most Innocent suffered the most," all wrongs will be made right. What a glorious gift this is! It is hard to imagine the intensity of the Savior's suffering in our behalf, and coupled with the fact that He had nothing to suffer for it is almost heartbreaking.
It's true! Jesus Christ has already paid the price for you to receive a fullness of joy, and receive complete forgiveness for your mistakes, but in order to receive that gift we have to be willing to change! It is only through repentance, which President Nelson taught. "When Jesus said “repent,” His disciples recorded that command in the Greek language with the verb metanoeo. This powerful word has great significance. In this word, the prefix meta means “change.” The suffix relates to four important Greek terms: nous, meaning “the mind”; gnosis, meaning “knowledge”; pneuma, meaning “spirit”; and pnoe, meaning “breath.”" It is through changing our mind, knowledge, spirit, and even our breath to be more in harmony with God's will that we fully receive the gift of the Atonement.
The most beautiful part is that God is constantly desiring for our happiness! Despite all of our shortcomings, God provided a way for us to be made whole through Jesus Christ! I hope you all will always remember that Heavenly Father is there, and He is in "relentless pursuit of you."
Love you guys!
